Cebu City & Mactan Island - 26th Nov - 1st Dec 2007

At LCCT, I saw the flight delay notice on the electronic board. Was a bit disappointed, worried that I might not be able to get the next connecting flight from Manila to Cebu. The original flight was 1:20am but delay to 2:30am, and we are supposed to land at Manila by 5:00am but now change to 6:00am. The next flight booked was 8:40am. To occupied our time, WIFI is free, internet lah at McD.

When I arrived at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport, took the luggage and still have to take Airport Shuttle to Domestic Airport. At 7:40am we are still at NAIA. The shuttle also delays. The shuttle took us about 10 minutes drive to Domestic Airport. We have to pay Terminal fee of 200 pesos per passenger. I thought we could have a light breakfast but the flight took off early, at 8:15am. Ni macam bila bus penuh, dia jalan.. coz they have plenty of flight every hour.

Arrived at Cebu, Mactan International Airport, first I did was cari toilet. I dont know what was wrong with me, every airport, I kena cari toilet. One in LCCT, in Manila & now in Mactan. Sakit perut bebe.

The hotel pickup is waiting. Now we are on the way to Montebello Villa, Cebu. It’s a garden hotel in Cebu City. There is nothing much to be proud about, very basic for a deluxe room. If I book their superior, I would have been screaming, I guess. Bilik dah lah buruk, aircon punyalah bising, breakfast... warrrggghhhh (takde apa boleh makan) boleh makan omelete, cereal and roti bakar je, nak guna iron tak boleh, dia sendiri nak buat pressing (charge lagi), nak guna WIFI dia kata kena charge 50 peso per hour, tapi bila masuk bilik ada WIFI free dari company sebelah, thank you lah... To check more about the hotel, pls click here. First I did was sleeping... warghhh, I need a good sleep. After wakeup, have a shower then we had a long walk to Waterfront Hotel in Lahug. Firstly when I check the map, my first impression was, Montebello Villa is the nearest hotel to Waterfront (where the conference CAFEO25 took place). That’s another reason for a long walk. After 1/2 hour of walking, at last we reach Waterfront Hotel. Sorry bebe.

After registration of the delegates, I lepak at their lobby and had my Cafe Mocha, then took a shuttle to Ayala Centre. There are 2 biggest shopping malls in Cebu City, one is Ayala Mall & the other is SM Mall. The most convenience way to travel around Cebu City is by Taxi (Meter Taxi). But the traffic is quite heavy during peak hour and your taxi fare could burst pocket. Normally it will cost about 50-60 pesos from Lahug area (downtown) to Ayala or SM Mall. Tapi kalau they know you are tourist and donno much about the road, they will make a detour for you lah... I guess muka aku ni dah macam pompuan filipino, sebab tu semua orang (all) the filipino talk in Tagalog with me, so diaorang tak boleh main2 lah dgn aku. Makan is another big problem becoz most of it are not-halal and they loves Pork 'O' licious, but there are lots of bakeries, dunkin donats and KFC around town. I didnt manage to go around the tourist spots or historical area coz most of my time I was at Waterfront Hotel for CAFEO 25, but most of the time on the internet. Only in the evening I have time to melawat shopping centre and do my shopping. I bought 1 Guess jeans and blouse. Others, I bought only t-shirt for my nephews. Lain tak beli apa2, coz all expensive.

On 29th November, after 3 nights in Cebu City, checked out of the hotel and going to Mactan Island for a beach holiday!!! We took taxi from Lahug and the fare with meter only 200 pesos but the taxi driver insists we pay more coz, it's very far and he might be difficult to get passenger from Tambuli. Tapi I buat tak tau, macam tak faham apa dia cakap... memang tak faham pun. Tambuli Resort Club sangat jauh ke pedalaman. Kalau dah masuk the resort area, nak keluar tu memang lah susah and taxi all cut throat punyalah. No meter taxi in that area. Ok lah. Our first night, we had seafood at Manna Restaurant, Lapu-Lapu Shrine.

There are three resorts with the same management next to each other, Tambuli West, Tambuli East and Cebu Beach Resort. I'm staying in Tambuli West (the most expensive). Tapi next kalau ada sesapa nak pergi sana, tinggal je lah kat Cebu Beach Resort, coz boleh guna other resort facilities jugak (rugi saja).. All the hotel didnt provide breakfast, so if you want you have to pay extra for breakfast. The resort is so far in the jungle, so nak keluar kena lah naik taxi. We did jalan kaki keluar ke main road. Singgah kat Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort, kita orang nak main pool (snooker) tapi itu hanya untuk hotel guess, so kita katalah, kita orang tengah tunggu the hotel guest, takkan tak boleh main.. kalau nak kena bayar, we are willing to pay. So diaorang kata it's okay you can use it free... So main lah 3 games. Lepas tu lepak minum teh. After that teruskan perjalanan nak cari kedai yang jual drinking water, tapi punyalah jauh. Balik pun jalan jugak... exercise bebe.

After 2 nights at Mactan Beach, it's time to go home. Taxi to airport dia nak charge 300 pesos and lepas tu ada charges lain lak kat airport, giler betul taxi driver tu. Bila kita orang taknak, dia suruh turun... Lepas dah bising-bising dgn hotel reception, kita naik hotel car but still charges 300 pesos. Dari hotel about 1pm and our flight back to Manila are 3:55pm. So ada banyak masa kat airport. WIFI is good and with carrying notebook around is so convenience. We can check internet at any time. Tapi kalau ada so call internet savvy (bukan IT savvy) susah nak dapat peluang main internet. Still have to pay Terminal fee of 200 pesos for departing from Domestic Airport.

Arrive Manila at about 5pm, after collecting our luggage; we still have to get the shuttle to NAIA. Arrive NAIA about 6:30pm and straight away check in and here the Terminal fee is 750 pesos. The Immigration took almost 1/2 hour standing in the queue. After passing the immigration standard procedure you have to go thru the metal detector and we have to take off the shoes and belt. While waiting for boarding, we had our Cafe Mocha and sandwiches. Here in NAIA, the WIFI is for hotspot, no free services. Our flight was supposed to be 8:55am but delay to 2 hours. Cebu Pacific Air provide all with sandwiches and drinks. Arrive at LCCT about 2:00am and reach home 3:30am... mengantuk!!

Satu Pengalaman.
