LONDON, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Croatia Wednesday beat England, 3-2, at Wembley Stadium, preventing England from qualifying for the EURO 2008 Football Tournament. Croatia's Mladen Petric scored game-winning goal in the 77th minute. The visitors held a stunning, 2-0 lead in the match's opening 15 minutes after goals from Niko Kranjcar and Ivica Olic. England knotted the score, 2-2, when Frank Lampard converted a penalty shot, and Peter Crouch scored the equalizer with 25 minutes remaining. After losing to Israel last Saturday, England needed a draw against Croatia to advance to Austria and Switzerland next summer. Joining Croatia and Russia were Turkey, Austria, Switzerland, and Portugal.
