Kota Kinabalu & Manukan Island
I was in Kota Kinabalu & Manukan Island last weekend with few of my colleagues, 3d/2n tour package, staying in Berjaya Palace Hotel. A 2-star/tourist hotel, with very basic facilities.
Day 1 – Arrived KK International Airport after 12:30pm and had lunch in one of the local estaurant in town. After lunch, proceed to Kota Kinabalu City Tour - Philippine Market, Likas & State Mosque, Tun Mustapha Building (Yayasan Sabah), Chinese Temple, Museum and pass through water villages. The tour guide sends us to the hotel for check-in and rush for dinner at 6:30pm at one of the local restaurant. Everything was rushing... All the ladies requested to be sent to Karamunsing Complex (next to Berjaya Palace) for a shopping...

Day 2 - I woke up at 5:30am for Morning Prayer, had our breakfast at 6:30am. After breakfast at about 7:30am depart from Kota Kinabalu and travel 3 hours along the ridges of the Crocker Range to Kinabalu National Park, but we proceed to Poring Hot Spring first, another hour drive, take a trail up to the hanging canopy walkway and experience the primary forest surroundings from higher ground. Take a dip at the sulphur bathtubs, which have therapeutic effects. We had lunch at the mountain restaurant. After lunch we proceed to Kinabalu National Park. Visit the educational centre and suppose to take a guided walking tour to the cool mountain forest, but it was raining and everybody was extremely exhausted, especially me, due to my severe migraine.
Poring Hot Spring
By late evening, we transfer back to Kota Kinabalu city area, and the ladies again request to stop by at the Philippine market to buy some souvenirs. After that, we headed back to the hotel. I was sick badly and decided not to joint them for the dinner and Tiara accompanying me in the room. DINNER at Dorwish, seafood restaurant in Penampang.
Day 3 – After Morning Prayer, I sleep again and woke up at 7:00am. We had our breakfast today at 7:45am and right after breakfast, they transfer us to the city jetty for a 10 minutes boat ride to Manukan Island, The headquarters of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. There is a fish feeding at the Jetty and it is Free at our own leisure program. Some were going for swimming in the crystal clear water along the white sandy beach or snorkeling to explorer the tropical marine life. But myself, mimi, tiara, zahid, heng and fu, was trying to be a little bit adventure, follow the jogging trek about 1500m into the jungle until we reach to the end of the trek, which is a place for sunset viewing.
Manukan Island
By noon, a buffet lunch was prepared at the island’s restaurant. Manukan Island is a must-to- go place at least for a night or two. We return to mainland by late noon. Transfer back to the hotel for check-out. At about 3pm we headed to Kota Kinabalu Airport for flight departure, but before that we stop at the train station to buy Frozen Prawns and Fish.
